E.Leclerc Selects Aldata G.O.L.D. Vocal for Order Preparation

Sep 20, 2007

The company Leclerc Lecasud, who has been an Aldata G.O.L.D. customer for many years, has decided to use the G.O.L.D. Vocal module in a PDA environment in its dry goods warehouse situated in the Var region of France (the Leclerc Lecasud warehouse at Le Luc).

First success for G.O.L.D. Vocal in a PDA environment.

Leclerc Lecasud has been using the G.O.L.D. Vocal module for several years with Vocollect dedicated terminals for its order preparation activities in its fresh and frozen product warehouse. In extending its vocal technology environment (for grocery and household cleaning products), the French retailer decided to select Motorola’s multi-mode mobile terminals or PDAs. The Aldata G.O.L.D. Vocal solution is now available and operational in both dedicated and PDA environments, whether stand-alone or simultaneously.

This advanced technology has brought other advantages:

  •  The voices of the preparation operators no longer have to be initially recorded for identification purposes, saving time and costs for temporary and seasonal personnel
  • The multi-mode voice and data functions of the Motorola WT4090 mobile terminal provide preparation operators with one unique terminal to carry out different tasks alternating between voice and ‘traditional’ barcode reading.

‘The Motorola mobile terminal WT4090 was chosen for its technical and economic criteria. The PDA enables multiple data retrieval (screen, voice etc.) and data capture elements (bar code, RFID, voice, keyboard etc.). Furthermore, the availability of the PDA in a voice environment allows a much greater choice of terminal’, says Alain Robeau, Support Services Manager, Leclerc Lecasud.

Designed for logistics applications, Motorola’s WT4090 portable terminals are adapted for difficult environments (dusty atmosphere, refrigerated warehouses, etc.) and are very rugged. The WT4090 is attached to the forearm or to the waist to leave the user’s hands free to handle the merchandise.
