Tesco is one of the largest and most well-known retail chains in the world. It operates more than 700 stores in the United Kingdom and has aggressively expanded internationally and Tesco has now more than one hundred stores in Central Europe and Asia. With its market-leading position, Tesco strives for unbeatable quality, range and service as well as expansion in non-food markets. By its successful business operations and effective local market integration, Tesco keeps its leading position in 5 out of 10 retail country markets.

At the time of its market development in Central Europe, Tesco started to look for an information technology system which would enable complete control over the network of its stores and warehouses. After a wide and extended testing of various software solutions, Tesco decided to implement Aldata's software suite.

In the initial project phases, Tesco decided to install the three core Aldata's solutions for stock management, shop management and central buying and merchandise management. This presented a double challenge: system performance for business operations and technology as well as training and user-qualification.
